If you’d like to be considered as a featured reader for the Brooklyn Poets Reading Series, submit a PDF copy of a book to or mail a copy to 144 Montague Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Please note that our reading series only features poets with published books and is typically by invitation only, so we cannot respond to each submission or query; if we think your work would be a good fit, we will contact you within three months. If you don’t hear from us or don’t want to wait or don’t yet have a book published, we encourage you to participate in one of our two monthly open mics, the Yawp and the Friday Night Open, where the audiences are just as big (and often bigger) than for our reading series. We often select as one of two featured readers for the Friday Night Open a poet without a book who has participated regularly at our open mics.

If you are a Brooklyn-based poet who would like to be considered for a Poet of the Week feature, please send a third-person bio and poetry sample to Justin Maki at Previous residents of Brooklyn who currently live elsewhere are welcome to get in touch. Poets who have never lived in the borough are featured only when reading for one of our events or as one of the winners of our fellowships or awards.
